SCARS-bernina pictogram project

When I came to know about the bernina pictogram project,I wanted to be a part of it .

For this project I have chosen a topic which is rampant around the world.....ABUSE, RAPE,MOLESTATION........these words can be read or heard on daily basis in paper, news and other social media.
A mother of two girls myself,it affects and disturbs me immensely.
In this quilt I tried to express pain ,anger, humiliation a girl faces after being subjected to abuse. The emotional isolation, fear, hurt ......which her guilty innocence is subjected to tear up my heart.
Its never a PAST for them.SCARS are always there.

I just hope that our girls can live in a safe and secure society.

                   Its their RIGHT!

In this quilt I used felt, aurifil thread, sponge and paper.Technique I used is fmq.

Art by the inchies

As the name suggests Inchies are tiny quilts....they are either 1" or 1.5"squares.Till last week I never heard about it .When my friend #Shruti suggested it  that we should try this I freaked out but then thought what the heck....n jumped in...read the article "art by the inchie" by Noramjean Brevik n saw some tutorials on pinterest....and was ready to try my first Inchie:)
My #bernina & #BSR foot are a blessing as they made my work easy and here I am with my first inchies.
They are super cute, quick, fun and easy to create.I am going to use these as a wall art.

She pouches some more

Here is another version of she pouches with different size and shape...
For these also follow the same tute just cut the fabric 5"x13".
Happy sewing:)

She pouch/privacy pouch tutorial

Here is a tute for a very easy n useful pouch for keeping sanitary napkins :
Material needed:outer fabric ,lining fabric ,interfacing and velcro....thats it

Cut one 10"x12" rectangle each from Outer fabric, lining and interfacing.

Fuse the interfacing to the outer fabric.Lay the OF and LF right sides together and sew on all sides keeping a small opening on one side to turn it .

Now turn the purse right side out and iron it flat
Top stitch on all sides ,this will help closing the small opening we left .
Now fold the rectangle piece ,lining sides together about 4" and mark the center for attaching velcro.
Sew on both sides hence creating a pocket (see the above ).

Align the flap over the pocket ,find the center and mark the point where the velcro has to be stitched.Sew the other part of velcro on it.

Finished.

Hope you liked the tutorial .
